Like Father, Like Son - John 14:7-14

Jesus, as he has said many times before, reminds the disciples that he and the Father are very alike - that he is in the Father and that the Father is in him. Jesus tells them that if they have seen him, they have seen the Father. He is reminding them to believe him, trust him and have faith in him. He is in effect saying the same to us. And we are called to do the works of the Lord, as he directs, being "the hands and feet of Jesus" as he works through us. And through us, Jesus can bring spiritual new life to the spiritually dead (Ephesians 2). When we ask the Lord Jesus in prayer, he hears and answers, according to his love and wisdom - and both he and the father are glorified. When we ask, that is prayer, and prayer is important.
