Jesus continues in the upper room discourse teaching his disciples on the night he was betrayed. He now makes a promise that he will return after he leaves and bring them with him. And he makes the stunning statement that he, Jesus himself, is the way, the truth, and the life, a statement about the exclusive salvation that comes only through redemption accomplished by Christ. And he further emphasizes that no man comes to the father except through Jesus. The only way to have peace with God, God's smile of love, is through faith in Jesus.
