Joseph is Alive - Genesis 45:16-28

Visiting Pastor Zecharias Weldeyesus, pastor of Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Atlanta Georgia preaches regarding Joseph's reconciliation with his brothers after more than 20 years. Reconciliation is a light to the world, Philippians 2:14-15. Pharoah's favorable attitude toward Joseph and his family, and the salvation of Egypt by Pharoah are fulfillments of God's promise in Genesis 12:3. Likewise, through our own kindnesses to our neighbors, the Lord will bless our neighbors. Joseph is a type of Christ here - his brothers bringing the good news to their father that Joseph is alive - a prefiguring of the good news of the resurrection of Jesus - Jesus is alive! Moreover, Joseph is a ruler, prefiguring the good news of the Lordship of Jesus. Jacob's response to the good news, going to Egypt to see Joseph, was right to do. Jacob's life was changed by the good news. We should gladly bear the good news to our neighbors. Like seeing Joseph was "enough" for Jacob, having Christ is "enough" for us.
