The Resurrection Call - John 5:25-29
Jesus continues his teaching in Jerusalem occasioned by his healing of the invalid at the Pool of Bethesda on the Sabbath. In these verses Jesus' teaching includes three truths. First, hell is real and all people are created in God's image with an eternal soul and will face judgment, and without Christ the punishment for rejecting Christ is eternity in torment under the wrath of God. Second, heaven is real, and those who hear the word of Christ and believe, trusting in the redemption accomplished by Christ, escape and are resurrected to life in heaven in joyous fellowship with Christ Jesus and God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Third, Jesus gives eternal life to those who trust in Him.
