The Good Shepherd - John 10:1-21
Jesus teaches that he is both the door to the sheepfold and the good shepherd who loves the sheep and lays his life down for the sheep. The sheep are Christians, all those trusting in Christ and who know his voice, who recognize the truths he teaches in Scripture. Jesus also states his authority to lay down his life and to take it up again, by resurrection. Those listening were divided - some believed, and some rejected his teaching.
