CloseBoaz was a financially comfortable man, related to Naomi closely enough to be a kinsman redeemer. Naomi, familiar with the customs of the community advised Ruth to approach Boaz in a request to redeem her, ultimately by marrying her. Boaz responded kindly and righteously to Ruth's overture that Boaz spread his wings over her, promising redemption, either by means of the nearest kinsman, or by Boaz himself. Like Ruth needed Boaz as a redeemer from her social situation, we need redemption from our sins, and the redeemer is Jesus.
