CloseEphesians can be divided into two main sections, the indicative section goes through chapter 3, and the imperative section begins in chapter 4. In addition to calling this the indicative/imperative, you can also refer to it as doctrine/duty, faith/life, or to borrow from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, what man is to believe concerning God and what duty God requires of man. In 4:1-3 we see the gospel centered life of the believer lived in the power of the Spirit. This life is characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, long suffering, and unity.
