Clean in Jesus - John 13:5-10
Jesus encouraged Peter to have his feet washed, but Peter was hesitant. Jesus recognized that Peter didn't understand the situation, but Jesus expects him to trust and follow His lead and allow him. We also are to follow Jesus when we don't understand. Jesus, in washing their feet, was pointing them to their need for cleansing, indicating their sin and their need for salvation. We also can't get clean unless Jesus makes us clean - he cleans our hearts. Jesus's statement that they are clean indicates their salvation, their secure position in Christ.
