CloseThe new year is a great time to ask “How am I doing in my overall spiritual health and development as a Christ follower? ” In Philippians 3 Paul reflects briefly on his own history as a Pharisee. Hating Jesus and even killing Christians, Paul thought he had all the answers. But when he encountered Jesus, He experienced a transformation. His entire life was deconstructed piece by piece, and rebuilt in Christ. In verses 13 - 14 Paul says “But one thing I do forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upper call of God in Christ Jesus.” Paul shows us that it does no good to dwell on our past sins. We can’t always trust how we feel or even what we think, but we can always trust the word of God. As Christians our best days are in front of us. We are to strain forward towards Jesus who waits for us in the flesh! We can run toward him with everything that is in us - no looking back, no holding back!
