The Birth of a Nation
In Genesis 32, God has saved Jacob from the hand of Laban, and is preparing to bring him back to the land of Canaan. Jacob is terrified because Esau is coming with a 400 man militia, and he fears the worst will happen. Before Esau arrives, God appears to Jacob in the night and they fight until the dawn. God breaks Jacob down to the point where bloodied and bruised, he clings to Him for a blessing. God gives him a new name, Israel, as we see God's promises to Abraham and Isaac coming to fruition!
