X Marks the Spot - Colossians 2:1-5

Paul loved and was concerned for the folks at the churches of Laodicea and Colossae even though he had not met many of them. He wanted to encourage them and wanted them to grow in love and in understanding of the gospel of Christ. He wanted them to steadfastly focus on the centrality of Christ where the treasure is hidden. In a treasure map, X marks the spot, and in the map of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge shows that they are at the spot, and that spot is Christ himself. We go to Christ, the font of these treasures, and we remember that wisdom and knowledge are not found anywhere else. We are never to get tired of the truths of the gospel or be bored by them - they should remain fresh with us. Paul also wanted to warn people about the pitfalls and dangers that pose a threat to us, as someone might try to delude us, convince us of a lie, denying the truths of the gospel. We are to remain steadfast clinging to Christ, looking to him for salvation, guidance, and peace.
