Fed by Christ - John 6:1-15

Jesus has traveled from Jerusalem to the Sea of Galilee and was teaching his disciples and he saw a crowd of 5000 men coming. He tested his disciples posing the problem of providing food for the crowd. Philip and Andrew considered it impossible, then the people were told to sit in the grass. Jesus took the 5 loaves and 2 fish and gave thanks to God and distributed the food and all had their fill, and the leftovers filled 12 baskets. This miracle showed the divine power of Jesus, his divine nature. The lunch meal was not the greatest need of these people, their greatest need was to trust in Jesus's redeeming work. Jesus is the bread of life, taught later in the chapter. Jesus also prepares a table for us, the Lord's supper, of bread and wine.
