Covenant Nurture - Deuteronomy 6:6-9

Deuteronomy 6 is part of a sermon from Moses to the Israelites before they entered the promised land. In these verses, Moses reminded people to remember the commandments, especially teaching them to their children. Teaching the children, indoctrinating them, involves primarily keeping the commandments in view routinely during the day. Parents teach their children best when they are walking in the way of the Lord, living in the commandments, with the word of the Lord residing in their minds and directing their actions. The primary duty and great joy of parents is diligently teaching their children.
